Sponsoring new literary talent

In addition to helping writers realise their self publishing dream, we've been actively sponsoring competitions to encourage new writing and alternative voices in Irish fiction and non-fiction.

Original Writing supports new authors

Our primary purpose is to help authors self publish their books quickly, easily and economically. We also seek to provide as much support as possible to first-time authors and those who have had difficulty finding their audience in the past. With this in mind we have sponsored a number of competitions for Irish writers in the last number of years in addition to setting up our sister site Writing4all to encourage writers at the beginning of their writing career.

Writing Spirit Competition at Writing4all

The First Annual Writing Spirit Award is a free to enter fiction writing competition open to all Writing4all members with a €1000 top prize. Entries are limited to fiction works of not more than 4000 words. The subject matter is yours to choose. The only stipulation is that you are a member of Writing4all.

Writers Week has long been one of Ireland’s premier literary events and occupies a special place in the hearts of many authors and readers worldwide. The Original Writing Memoir Competition is aimed at providing an opportunity for first time memoir writers to share their stories with the world.

Irelands Own Short Story competition

Irelands Own has been one of Ireland’s most popular family magazines for over 100 years and we are delighted in the last year to have been involved in sponsoring their perenially popular short story competition. This competition is particularly popular with first-time authors and provides a valuable outlet for new narrative voices that we are pleased to be associated with.
