Dublin in the late 1960s is a very dull and depressing place and particularly dull and depressing for young Eddie Kelly an undertakers assistant with the eccentric Shaky Shanahan. He yearns for the bright lights and craves some excitement in his humdrum life. However Eddie is stuck with his alcoholic father Seamy and his death worshiping mother Bridie .The family are poverty-stricken and Eddie is trapped in a dead end job in a depressing Dublin with high levels of unemployment and emigration. But everything is about to change for young Eddie Kelly the Friday night he goes into his favourite pub The Ace of Spades. What happens that fateful night dramatically changes his life forever and sets Eddie on an epic life adventure? Things can never be the same again for Eddie Kelly. About the Author
James Farrell was born in Dublin and educated at St.Vincent’s Christian Brothers School Glasnevin, Greenwich University London and the Queen’s University of Belfast. He lives in Belfast and is Principal Director of a large firm of Chartered Surveyors and Engineers. He is currently completing his second work, a book of short stories, entitled “All Our Troubles” which will be published next year.
