Thoughts of the Third Secret of Fatima terrify young Michael Weston so much that he embarks on a crusade of personal sanctification in the early 1950s.
Later, following Vatican II, he becomes disenchanted with the Church and finds love and sexual liberation when he meets a beautiful Kerry girl. He is tormented in the library where he works by the cleaning lady who is a religious fanatic. He is also fearful that his risky method of procuring forbidden contraceptives will be frustrated by the vigilantes of the State.
